See Virginia Beach in a whole new "light." Over 450,000 lights will adorn the Virginia Beach oceanfront and will feature nautical and holiday displays that you can actually drive your motorcoach through. This #1 light show is a "must Sea" when visiting the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Jumping dolphins and other animated nautical and holiday displays will transform into a "fantasea" of lights during Holiday Lights at the Beach, the resort city's popular drive- through display. With more than 250 light displays, the Virginia Beach boardwalk will shine for over two miles. Tourists will delight in this illuminated journey surrounded by festive fish, colorful sailboats, jumping dolphins and Santa Claus himself in a variety of animated nautical and holiday themes. 24th Annual Grand Illumination Parade, Downtown Norfolk
Festivities begin with the Grand Illumination of the Olde Towne Portsmouth and Downtown Norfolk skylines, when 100,000 voices along the Grand Illumination Parade Route will take part in a community countdown. The skylines stretch nearly 20 miles to light up our favorite holidays - Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year's Eve. The theme for this year's Grand Illumination Parade is "American Holidays Through History." The illumination signals the start of the parade filled with festive and lighted floats, marching bands, giant balloons, decorated vehicles, dancers, and, of course, Santa Claus. Pre-parade entertainment begins at 5 p.m., with grand illumination of buildings at 7 p.m. and parade immediately after, starting at Waterside Drive and St. Paul's Boulevard. The Courthouse Galleries museum will continue the popular holiday tradition started by Coleman Nursery by exhibiting its "Winter Wonderland" collection, which began in 1966 with a sleeping, snoring Santa and grew to hundreds of animated figures over the years. Boston Pops Holiday Concert, Ferguson Center for the Arts
America's most-recorded, most-televised, and most-favorite orchestra returns to the Ferguson Center under the baton of its charismatic conductor, Keith Lockhart. Colonial Williamsburg heralds the Christmas season with candles, fireworks and music during Grand Illumination. The celebration begins at 4:45 p.m. on outdoor stages throughout the Historic Area. Colonial Williamsburg's Fifes and Drums provide 18th-century music as costumed performers present holiday entertainment found in Williamsburg two centuries ago. At 6:15 p.m., candles are lit in public buildings, shops and homes, and fireworks are launched at three Historic Area locations: the Governor's Palace, Magazine and Capitol.
